AirWick Air Fresheners Recall Details For Minnesota + Wisconsin

A popular brand of aerosol spray air fresheners is involved in a recall.  The Reckitt company has issued a voluntary recall of a single batch of their AirWick Fresh New Day air fresheners - in Fresh Waters and Fresh Linen scents.  The recall affects retail outlets in the United States and the Caribbean - including Minnesota and Wisconsin.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the "recalled products are missing a corrosion inhibitor, which can lead to corrosion and rupture of the metal can, posing injury and laceration hazards".  The cans are also prone to corrosion, which can result in the liquid leaking, which in itself poses "a risk of skin and eye irritation upon contact".

The specific cans of AirWick Fresh New Day air freshener being recalled are 8-ounce aerosol cans, with the Batch Code of B22077-NJ2 only; again, the scents involved are Fresh Waters and Fresh Linen.  No other varieties of AirWick air fresheners are involved in this recall effort. The UPC Codes involved are 0-62338-74734 and 0-62338-77002-4.

Customers who have the recalled aerosol cans in their possession are urged not to use them.  The company is directing consumers to "wrap the product in several layers of paper and dispose in accordance with state and local requirements".

You can contact the Reckitt company to request a voucher for a free replacement.  In order to get that, you will need to email the company a photo of the recalled can showing the Batch Code.
