According to WCCO, the cashier was the store manager, Leo, while he was working on closing the store around 9:30 PM this last Saturday, the man walked in and put the gun on the counter and asked for all the money in the register.
Leo wasn't the only one behind the checkout counter, his 8-year-old daughter was also there with him, when the thief started to go behind the counter with the gun, Leo told WCCO, "I'm a dad, I'm not going to let that happen."
In the security cam footage you can see Leo punch the man and take him down to the ground, while he was wrestling the burglar Leo's daughter enters the altercation armed with a baseball bat.
The heroic child is seen whacking the dude a couple of times before running off, the suspect, 37-year-old Conchobhar Morrell, of St. Paul, was charged with first-degree attempted aggravated robbery and will be back in court tomorrow in Ramsay County.
Amazon told WCCO that the suspect was a driver for a third party delivery service and that he will be fired. Morrell does have a previous conviction from 2004 for first-degree aggravated robbery.
I'm just glad both Leo and his daughter are ok, but what a traumatic situation for the two. I think she earned ice cream for life with that assist!
