When Are The Northland’s Golf Course Opening For The 2026 Season?
The phrase "early-season golf" in Northern Minnesota or Northern Wisconsin is generally not particularly "early". This spring, that rings true once again.
While central and southern parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota have seen the occasional summerlike temperatures already, the northern reaches haven't gotten quite that warm yet. Add in the early-April snow we got that is still on the ground in places across the region, and mid-April golf in the Northland is sparse.
While a lot of courses are still waiting to announce an opening date as of today (April 13), there are a few courses in the region that have already opened or have announced opening dates coming soon.
When it comes to courses in the Duluth - Superior area or places north, we have a bit of a wait yet as remaining snow continues to melt. That said, rain chances this week and temperatures that are trending warmer will help more quickly melt any remaining snow and get us closer to seeing those courses get open.
