Toys R Us and Wilson Sports to Open New Stores at Mall of America
The Mall of America will soon be home to two popular American brands, one that has been resurrected from the dead.
Toys R Us is back and its new owner WHP Global in partnership with Go Retail Group is set to roll out new retail locations and experiences on cruise ships and airports and a location at the Mall of America.
The historic toy brand went bankrupt and liquated all of its stores in 2018, WHP Global bought a controlling stake in Toys R Us in 2021, and they quickly partnered the brand with Macy's to open over 400 small shops inside Macy's locations across America.
The new Mall of America location will be a large 10,000-square-foot store and according to the Mall of America website, "it's a playground for the imaginations of kids of all ages. Come try out the newest and hottest items or your favorite classics. Come in and be a Toys R Us kid!
The other popular brand coming soon to the Mall of America is Wilson Sports, they currently have 7 other stores across the country, 4 in New York, and 1 store each in California, Texas, and Illinois.
Wilson was founded in 1913 and is headquartered in Chicago, and makes a variety of sporting goods like the Louisville Slugger, the official NFL and NBA balls, golfing equipment, and the official tennis balls for the US and French Opens.
Wilson also is part of movie history, remember when a Wilson-branded volleyball became the best friend of Tom Cruise in the movie 'Cast Away?'
