This one is a bummer!

As the NFL offseason kicks into full gear with the free agency period heating up and teams laying claim to players, the Minnesota Vikings just lost a fan-favorite wide receiver.

No, don't worry, Justin Jefferson isn't gone, and Jordan Addison isn't who I am talking about. Jalen Nailor, the next guy on the Minnesota depth chart, is heading to a new team for the 2026 season.

Known to some by his nickname "Speedy", Nailor has become a fan-favorite over the years, showing consistent evidence of being a starting-caliber wide receiver that some suspected would be the number two guy behind Jefferson if the Vikings decided to move on from Jordan Addison after his most recent in a series of legal troubles.

In his four years with the Vikings, Nailor has 11 touchdowns and 1,066 yards off 69 receptions.

The news that Nailor would be heading to a new team came on Monday (March 9) via NFL insider Adam Schefter, who reports that the Raiders have agreed to terms with Nailor, signing him to a three-year, $35 million deal.

That deal, as Schefter reports (per Ken Sarnoff and Joe DiBenedetto of 1 Of 1 Agency) includes $23 million in guaranteed money.

This puts Nailor in a position to be a starter with the rebuilding Raiders while seemingly assuring the Vikings have to pick up Jordan Addison's option to keep him around for next year.

A few other notable unrestricted free agents to keep an eye on for the Vikings include:

  • Running back Ty Chandler
  • Longsnapper Andrew DePaola
  • Cornerback Jeff Okudah
  • Safety Harrison Smith
  • Quarterback Carson Wentz

Punter Ryan Wright was also on this list, but was signed by the Saints. This leaves the Vikings in need of a new punter for the 2026 season.

As of the time of this article being published, the Vikings have made two free agency acquisitions, re-signing linebacker Eric Wilson to a new three-year, $22.5 million deal and adding cornerback James Pierre from the Steelers to a two-year, $8.5 million deal.
