WATCH: Green Day Shouts Out St. Cloud At Target Field Saturday Night
It's been one heck of a week for concerts in Minnesota. Not only was it Corcoran Country Daze with Dylan Scott and Gary Allen, Koe Wetzel played the Armory on Thursday, and Friday and Sunday this band called Metallica is playing at US Bank Stadium. Well Target Field didn't want to miss out on the action so of course they were hosting the rock band Green Day Saturday night. While performing, When I Come Around, the group started shouting out Minnesota cities, and St. Cloud made the cut!
Youtube user Brinzinator uploaded the video that proves St. Cloud was on the bands mind while playing their show at Target Field, home to the Minnesota Twins.
The St. Cloud shout-out happens around the 2:25 mark of the video.
According to reviews of the concert the band played both the 'Dookie' album, where When I Come Around comes from, and also the American Idiot album in full!
That sounds like one heck of a show to have been at to experience two of the arguably best albums the band has ever put out.
Also of note my hometown of New Brighton also got a shout-out, right after St. Cloud as lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong's wife went to high school in New Brighton.
According to People.com the two met at a Green Day show in 1990 in Minneapolis and after asking the lead singer for a tape/CD after the show the two stayed in contact and as they say in show business the rest is history.
