Journey Classic Has Been Declared The B.O.A.T.
You can't get away from this song. Sporting events, classic rock radio, classic hits radio, adult contemporary radio, the supermarket, karaoke...it's like herpes (allegedly): you think it's gone and then BAMN it's back.
So in a surprise to absolutely nobody, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has declared Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" to be the biggest song of all time after certifying it 18-times platinum as a single.
The Resurgence of a Classic That Never Went Away
It's been a radio staple across many genres for years. The 18-times platinum certification comes just 11 years after the RIAA certified the song quadruple platinum.
Not bad for a song that only peaked at #8 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.
The Parodies Have Kept the Song Fresh-ish
When you're on top of the mountain, you become an easier target. The song was featured during a recurring segment of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
The track does feature a popular chord progression
It got morphed with Metallica's "Enter Sandman" into a medley that oddly worked by a band called Rock Sugar.
You obviously can't have a movie featuring 80s classics without it.

That city boy born and raised in south Detroit...was Canadian (there is no actual South Detroit as the area directly south of downtown Detroit is a Canadian hamlet called Windsor). At least she'll get free healthcare if things work out between them.
