Necedah, WI (KROC-AM News) - A weekend fire in central Wisconsin claimed the lives of six people.

The Juneau County Sheriff's Office says its dispatch center received a call around 2:30 AM Sunday concerning a house on fire in Necedah Wisconsin. A 911 caller believed there were two or three people still inside the burning home.

Necedah Wisconsin is located about 60 miles east of La Crosse.

The Sheriff's office says the responding deputies found the structure fully engulfed in flames and found multiple people on the driveway near the residence. The people told the deputies that five people were unaccounted for and authorities soon learned a sixth person was also missing.

Eventually, it was determined the six family members, three juveniles and three adults, had perished in the blaze.

According to a news release, Firefighters from Necedah and nearby New Lisbon spent three hours battling the fire and were at the scene for more than 12 hours. At this point, officials say the fire appears to be accidental but the investigation is ongoing.

The names of the fire victims have not been released.
