Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Zumbrota man was taken to a hospital after the vehicle he was driving struck a deer on a southeast Minnesota freeway.

The State Patrol responded to the collision shortly before 4:30 Wednesday morning. He was the only person in his vehicle. 

The collision occurred on Hwy. 52 near the 65th St. interchange in Northwest Rochester

59-year-old Derald Paul Mitchell was driving his SUV south when the vehicle struck the animal.

Mitchell was taken to a Mayo Clinic Hospital for treatment of what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries. He was buckled up and alcohol was not involved in the crash, the state crash report says.
