Fight at Rochester Restaurant Leads to Assault Charges Against Minnesota Man
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Attorney’s Office has filed charges that stem from an altercation that occurred at a local restaurant last month.
The criminal complaint, filed Thursday in Olmsted County Court says the altercation was reported to Rochester Police on Tuesday. Officers spoke with the victims at a hospital.
Both of the victims, described as a man and woman, reported being injured in the altercation. They told police a man, later identified as 33-year-old Rodrigo Rojas Gasca, assaulted them at a Rochester restaurant Tuesday night, according to the complaint.
The man said Gasca struck him in the face with a closed fist rendering him unconscious after he had gotten into an altercation with Gasca. The woman said she saw Gasca hit the man and went to intervene when Gasca also struck her with a closed fist, the charges say.
The male victim suffered a fractured nose as a result of the assault. The complaint does not state the woman’s condition.
The victims separately identified Gasca as the assailant when they were shown photographic lineups, the complaint says. The court document does list the restaurant where the alleged assault occurred.
Gasca is charged with a count of felony third-degree assault and two counts of misdemeanor fifth-degree assault. He’s due to make his first court appearance in the case next month.
