St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News)- A pedestrian from the Twin Cities is fighting for his life after he was struck by a vehicle on Hwy. 52 Thursday.

The State Patrol responded to the traffic incident shortly before 3 p.m. The vehicle that hit the man is an SUV. 

Authorities say the pedestrian was walking westbound across the northbound lanes of Hwy. 52 near the St. Paul Downtown Airport when he was hit by the northbound vehicle. 


The pedestrian has been identified as 52-year-old David Lee Hendershot of St. Paul. Hendershot was taken from the scene to a St. Paul hospital. His injuries are described as life-threatening.

The SUV driver has been identified as 58-year-old Edith Margoth Cortez of St. Paul. She was not hurt.

 It’s unknown if alcohol was involved in the incident, according to the state crash report. 

Northbound Hwy. 52 heading into downtown St. Paul was closed for about two hours while investigators processed the scene Thursday afternoon.
