Faribault Baseball Drops Two Games to Austin
The Austin Packers swept a doubleheader 14-2 and 4-0 Thursday at Bell Field in Faribault.
The Falcons have had problems scoring runs this spring due to a lack of hitting. Their team batting average going into the day was .178.
Faribault had 2 hits in the first game, 3 hits in the second while Austin cranked out 13 hits and 11 hits respectively.
Ben Cunniff started the first game on the hill going 6 innings with 9 hits allowed, 8 runs, 5 earned, 2 strikeouts and 3 walks, He threw 97 pitches, 56 strikes. Oliver Shoop pitched the last inning with 28 pitches thrown, 13 strikes. He gave up 4 hits, 6 runs, all earned and walked 3 batters.
Grant Koch started the second game for Faribault going 5 innings with 11 hits given up, 4 runs, all earned, struck out 1 and walked 1 batter. He tossed 71 pitches, 45 strikes. Ben Stoessel threw the final two innings with no hits or runs allowed while fanning a batter and walking a batter. Stoessel threw 17 pitches, 12 strikes.
In the first game Michael Crone, Owen Hanson had hits with Hanson knocking in a run and Erick Sanchez had the other RBI.
Ben Cunniff clubbed a double, Crone and Koch each had hits in the second game.
