New Study Reveals Minnesota’s Top Three Side Hustles
It feels like everyone has a side hustle. The side hustle could be the thing you're truly passionate about but you know won't be able to pay the bills, at least for now. Other side hustles are jobs to help make ends meet or maybe reach a savings goal.
Whatever the reason is, a survey by Bankrate says that 36% of adults in the US have a side hustle. With those side hustles, people are making an extra $891 per month on average in 2024.

There are all kinds of side hustles out there. You could do something from your home office, like transcript writing or customer service. Maybe you want to get more hands-on and make something to sell on Etsy. Other side hustles could involve things like pet sitting or mowing people's lawns.
People everywhere are doing side hustles. So which ones are the most popular?
The Most Common Side Hustle
The study we're talking about was done by Casinos.com. They analyzed Google Trends to find the most popular side hustles in each state.
Based on their research, they found that the most common side hustle across the country is DoorDash.
I'm not terribly surprised by that. I've talked to many of my friends who have at least contemplated doing DoorDash as a side hustle.
Minnesota's Top Three Side Hustles
As for Minnesota specifically, we're going to go through the top three side hustles.
Number three is DoorDash, so not quite as popular of a side hustle as it is in other states.
Number two is day trading.
And the number one most popular side hustle in Minnesota is babysitting.
