The Phoenix Mercury defeated the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday afternoon at the Target Center 80-72. The last time that the Mercury defeated the Lynx was in 2011 (a 14 game span playoffs included), but they caught Minnesota at the right time as they have lost three of their last four games after starting the season 7 and 0.

This game was decided early as the Lynx shot just 35 percent from the field while the Mercury shot over 52 percent. Phoenix led by as many as 23 points in the 2nd quarter. The Lynx had their starters on the bench late in the fourth quarter while the reserves got them within 6 points with a little over a minute left, but missed jump shots on consecutive possessions by Tan White and Mónica Wright sealed the game for the Mercury who were led by Veteran point guard Diana Taurasi's 21 points 11 assists, Candice Dupree 18 points 10 rebounds and Brittany Griner 14 points 7 rebounds.

The Lynx were led by Maya Moore 14 points 6 rebounds and 3 assits, Damiris Dantas 10 points 12 rebounds and Tan White 13 points 6 rebounds. The game was televised on ESPN2.
