Last week, Minnesota Twins designated hitter Nelson Cruz accomplished something he'd never done before and that helped earn him AL Player Of The Week honors.

Last week against the Chicago White Sox, the 39-year-old Cruz hit 3 home runs in a single game, something he had never done before in his impressive career.  For the week, Cruz hit .414 with seven home runs and 13 RBIs in seven games.

According to TwinsBaseball.com, this is the sixth AL Player of the Week win for Cruz, who becomes the third Twins player to receive the honor this season, joining Jake Odorizzi and Max Kepler.

The Minnesota Twins are in a dogfight with the red-hot Cleveland Indians in the American League Central, with their lead down to just 2 games.  They will have a lot of opportunities to face Cleveland yet this season and a locked in Nelson Cruz could be the difference maker.
