MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The new college hockey tournament featuring all five of Minnesota's Division I programs now has a name.

Organizers revealed on Thursday that the tournament will be called the North Star College Cup. The inaugural tournament will be held Jan. 24-25 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The name was chosen with input from the head coaches and administrators of all five schools and with a fan vote.

Minnesota State, Mankato, St. Cloud State, Minnesota and Minnesota-Duluth will all face off at the event. Bemijdi State will be idle this year.

The two semifinals will be played on the 24th and the championship game will be played the next night. The Golden Gophers will face St. Cloud State in one semifinal while Minnesota State will play UMD in the other.
