The Minnesota Vikings have done away with "The Triangle of Authority" and have finally moved in the direction of centralized management. Rick Spielman was named General Manager by the Vikings in the early parts of the first week of the offseason.

Vikings owner Zygi Wilf had this to say about the decision:

This establishes the organizational structure that will lead to the long term success of the Vikings. Having watched Rick over the years, we have the utmost confidence that he will help us reach our ultimate goal of winning championships.

This decision is the first in what will be many offseason changes for the 3-13 Vikings. After tying the worst record in franchise history, the team is looking to make significant changes in the organization. Spielman faces some challenges in revamping the team, but has plenty of opportunity to rebuild with early draft picks and free agency.
