Rick Spielman Signs Contract Extension with Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman will continue to run the organization for at least a few more seasons.
The team announced today that they have extended his contract, believed to be until after the 2023 season, and that "Spielman's extension cements the continuity within the organization, as Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer signed his own multi-year extension July 24."
This season will mark Spielman's 15th year in the organization, nine of those as the General Manager. Speilman and Coach Zimmer have had six seasons together now and by all accounts, they seem to get along and work well together, the team has gone 57-38-1 under the leadership of the two.
"Rick has been outstanding in his role as Vikings general manager," Vikings Owner/President Mark Wilf said in a press release. "We are excited and honored to have him continue to lead our efforts to build a championship roster and first-class organization. With Rick's and Coach Zimmer's leadership in place, we are in a great position to continue to compete for a Super Bowl."
Regarding his GM duties, his main priority right now is signing Dalvin Cook, and of course, trying to keep the team safe, while addressing the media today Speilman said, "I know how important Dalvin Cook is and we've been working closely with his agent."
