Skechers Go Golf Elite 5 Plus Fit: Finally A Great Shoe For Big Feet
I've never owned a pair of golf shoes until recently. I've been golfing for 20 years, but there are a couple of reasons why I've never invested in shoes. When I was younger I didn't have things like foot pain, back pain, and knee pain. As most of us know, those things come up, and all of a sudden you have to wear "dad shoes" all of the time.
Secondly, I seriously could never find golf shoes in stock anywhere in my size. I'm a size 14 wide shoe. I went to a golf shop and asked if they had anything in 14 and they chuckled and said we would have to try to find some online.
Shoes are one of those things that you want to be able to try on before you buy. But in this case, after visiting several local stores, I didn't have any options. So I took the advice from a friend and checked out Skechers for golf shoes. I mean, if Tony Romo endorses them, it's gotta be good, right? I mean look at all the injuries he had in football. If he says they are comfortable, that's got to mean something!
I ended up buying the Go Golf Elite 5 - Sport Plus Fit. They were pretty reasonably priced at $115 right from Skechers. I thought for that price it's worth trying. I was also interested in Arch Lift technology. It has removable arch support that I figured would help me find comfort with or without it. The waterproof feature was also a must-have with how wet this year has started off.
It took just over a week with standard shipping for them to arrive. I tried them on right away, and to my surprise, they fit great. I was worried because the only width they offer is medium, and I'm usually a wide fit. These had plenty of room. I put them with my golf bag and went out golfing the very next day.
The shoe features a spikeless outsole, and it did a good job of keeping my feet from twisting while I swung.
They also feature a two-year waterproof warranty. Fortunately, they didn't leak any water for me as I did step in some wet spots a few times and my socks remained dry.
What really shocked me about these shoes is how comfortable they are. My initial comfort level with these shoes is fantastic. The Arch Lift worked great, they had great support as I'm someone who tends to pronate. I finished the round and my feet felt the best they have in a long time. I find myself wanting to wear them all the time now because they are that comfortable!
So if you've got big feet like me, and are looking for a solid golf shoe, the Skechers Go Golf Elite 5 - Sport Plus Fit is a great option for you.
