The Superior School District sent an e-mail to parents on Tuesday afternoon warning them about an increase in flu cases in the school district. The letter from the health coordinator says the school district is seeing increased diagnosed cases of both influenza A&B among students and staff at the schools.

Brynn Larrabee R.N. sent the e-mail to parents at 5pm on Tuesday January 28th. The notice also informs parents about the symptoms, prevention, treatment, and when parents can send their child back to school.

As far as symptoms goes, the flu comes on quickly and causes fatigue, high fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, chills, headaches, body aches, and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea.

The best prevention against the illness is thorough hand washing, getting your flu vaccine, covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, disinfecting areas, and staying home if you are sick.

For children that are recovering from the flu, they must wait 24 hours after the fever subsides or 24 hours after they are done vomiting or experiencing diarrhea.
