It's Grandma's Marathon time again! ESPN 560 WEBC and Townsquare Media are proud sponsors of this world-class event, and we're excited to bring you live radio and streaming coverage from start to finish!
It's Grandmas Marathon week and if you are a runner looking for extra motivation, you can enjoy another great line-up of speakers this year. All speakers will be in Duluth Friday, June 21 in Edmund Fitzgerald Hall at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.
All presentations are free and open to the public. Here is the 2013 line-up:
You know that friend of yours, the one who's really into running? He might actually be running himself right into an early grave: new research has discovered that too much exercise can be bad for your heart.
A 55-year-old Maryland man was running in the Baltimore marathon when he suffered a heart attack just 200 feet from the finish line. He collapsed in a sea of runners when blockage stopped his heart beat, but other racers came to his aid, and staff from the medical tent a few yards away were at his side in just moments to revive him.
Dozer, a three year-old golden doodle, ran most of the Maryland Half Marathon last week.
Unbeknownst to his owners, Dozer broke free of his electric fence and joined up with the road race when its participants ran past his front yard -- which sat at about the five mile mark of the half marathon.
