Three teams qualified for the upcoming Olympics in Beijing in 2022 and the USA was one of them. That was one of the goals going into the BKT Tires & OK Tire World Men’s Curling Championship 2021.

John Shuster told World Curling, “Obviously for us, we’re here trying to win a world championship. Making the playoffs and putting ourselves in a position to do that also doubled as qualifying our country in the Olympics. Obviously, we carry that flag with pride and we’re happy to be moving on to the playoffs,”

The team consisting of Skip: John Shuster Third: Chris Plys Second: Matt Hamilton Lead: John Landsteiner Alternate: Colin Hufman. So far in the tournament, the team is 9-3 and has qualified to move on to the playoffs for the Men's Curling Championships. Today they play Korea and are favored.

That will be the last game of the round-robin play, next is the Qualification play. RCF (Russia), Sweden, and the USA are top of the play so far. After the US hit a tough patch and were 5-3, they came back with a streak that they have already done to win the World Championships.

People have noticed that Tyler George isn't with the team competing at the World Competition. That is by choice. Tyler told the Curling News “I’ve had a hard time processing what happened in Korea, along with everything since, including the pandemic … to the point that it seems like someone else’s life,” he said. “I’m not sure it will ever sink in completely if it hasn’t by this point.”

The qualification round starts April 9th at 8 pm, and as of now includes the USA Team.
