No, you didn't misread the headline. The latest Minnesota Vikings offseason move is signing former collegiate point guard Nick Taylor who played for Florida International University to a three year reserve/futures deal.

1500 ESPN's Tom Pelissero broke the story Friday afternoon as fans continue to watch for a major offseason move from the Vikings.

Taylor played in a minor arena football league last season as a defensive back, which is where he will likely play on the Vikings practice squad. The report places him at cornerback and on punt return duty. The signing came after bringing Taylor to Minnesota for a private workout earlier in the day Friday, which must have been impressive enough to offer him a deal.

In a workout on FIU's pro day, Taylor clocked in at 4.34 and 4.27 seconds in the 40-yard dash. His bio on the FIU website has Taylor at 5' 10" and 165 pounds, having started in two games on the basketball squad. There have been plenty of pro football players that got their start playing other sports, so maybe the Vikings know something nobody else does.
