The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Twin Ports area for the potential of 'moderate to heavy snow' between 6-10 inches possible for parts of our area, including Duluth and portions of Wisconsin and the North Shore. Some areas near Lake Superior could see higher amounts. The warning is from 6 am Wednesday through Midnight Wednesday.

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

The National Weather Service says this fast-moving winter storm will impact the Northland beginning Wednesday morning, and persisting into Wednesday night. The
greatest snowfall amounts, generally between 6 and 10 inches, are expected in a broad swath from Lake Mille Lacs to the Hayward Lakes area, northeastward to Duluth, much of the north shore of Lake Superior, and most of northwest Wisconsin, including the entire Interstate 35, Highway 53, and much of the Highway 2 corridors. Locally heavier amounts are possible along the Lake Superior shore from Silver Bay to Ashland.

Surrounding this area, lesser amounts between 3 and 6 inches are expected across the remainder of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Snow will be rapidly expanding across the area during the morning commute hours, and difficult driving conditions are expected area-wide for the Wednesday evening commute.
