Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has issued a "Safer At Home" order, which goes into effect for residents beginning Wednesday, March 25th.

Under the order, all non-essential businesses will close their doors in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Residents will also be impacted under the order. Here is a breakdown of what residents can do under this order:

  • Travel to cater to essential needs, like getting your prescription, getting groceries and going to the doctor.
  • Travel to and from work if you provide essential care. This includes healthcare professionals, grocers, family caregivers and others whose "work is critical for folks across our state."
  • Go outside and get some fresh air. Keep in mind you must maintain six feet between you and anyone else and avoid park shelters and visitor centers.

As for what you can't do under the order, Governor Evers says the following:

We also need folks to limit their interactions to the same people, not different small groups. Shrinking your circle of interactions will help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Unfortunately that means no sleepovers, no play dates, and no dinner parties with friends and neighbors.

More details are to be expected but officials wanted residents of Wisconsin to start preparing now. You can read Governor Tony Evers' full statement here.

This announcement comes shortly after officials in Bayfield County issued an Inter-County Travel Advisory, ordering seasonal and second-home owners in the area to stay away for now and quarantine if they are already back in the county.
