While there are no evacuations in place for any parts of Duluth, officials with the City of Duluth and St. Louis County are advising what they call a 'Shelter in Place Advisory' for residents in some of the western communities of Duluth.

This advisory is for the area west of the ore docks in West Duluth to the Fond du Lac neighborhood, and to the top of the hill in that area.

The fire has been reported as contained, but some hotspots continue to burn and produce smoke, though not nearly as much as was being produced Thursday afternoon.

This advisory is to minimize potential exposure by staying indoors and avoiding allowing smoke in your homes and especially applies to individuals with respiratory issues and anyone with health concerns. Exposure can be limited by avoiding being outdoors, being sure windows and doors are closed, and HVAC systems that intake outdoor air are off.

Wind shifting overnight could push some smoke into this area overnight, which prompted this message. City officials are continuing to monitor the situation and are updating the public as any changes occur.
