If you've been following the Highway 53 Relocation Project on the Iron Range, you've no doubt heard about the bridge they're building that will cross Rouchleau Pit - just to the east of the City of Virginia. When it's done and the new highway is open, that bridge will be the tallest one in the state - rising more than 200 feet over the water below.

One bit of information that was surprising to me, though was the length of the bridge;  while it will be the tallest in the state - it won't be the longest.  In fact, the bridge won't be very long at all - just 1,100 feet long.  To put that in perspective, that's shorter than the Oliver Bridge.  (The Oliver Bridge is 1,900 feet long).

This video gives you an update on the project and a pretty good look at what it will look like when it's done.
