The Alzheimer's Association is encouraging Duluth residents to walk to fight to end Alzheimer's on September 12, 2020. This year the walk will be a little different than in years past because of the challenges we face with the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Instead of a large gathering of many people, the Alzheimer's Association is asking people to walk individually or in small groups.

Instead of a large group walking a single route, they encourage people to walk with their families or in small groups wherever they can such as sidewalks, tracks, and trails across the Twin Ports area.

Sue Spalding, CEO of the regional chapter of the Alzheimer's Association says the need for fundraising is still very important,

The pandemic is changing how we walk, but it doesn’t change the need to walk. This year, more than ever, we need to come together to support all those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementia.

Participants can now also use the Walk To End Alzheimer's Mobile app to track their routes. They can also track their steps and distance, follow a virtual walk path, manage their fundraisers and more. If you wish to participate in the event and raise money it's not too late. Visit alz.org/walk and sign up today.
