Annual Glensheen Gala Was A Great Night As Always
For it's fifth year, the Glensheen Gala carried the title "Gowns of Glensheen Gala: Unlocked". The Gala is a huge annual fundraiser put on by Glensheen and made possible by many sponsors and members of the general public who can also attend. Townsquare Media is a sponsor for this great event and I was fortunate enough to be able to attend once again.
The evening started at 7:00 with check-in, photos in the garden, and photos in front of the large main entrance door. You then had the option of roaming wherever you wanted with guides all around to answer questions.
New for this year was a pig roast, and the food all around was top notch. In addition, and included with your ticket was ice cream from Love Creamery, a couple of "shots in the dark", which included tequila and Crown, fires on the beach, elegant lighting in the woods of the 12-acre estate, and even live music on the balcony and on the pier.
As the title points out, the Gowns of Glensheen were still on display for this event and it was nice to see more of the collection that isn't out all of the time.
The staff was friendly and helpful and while it technically ends at 10:00PM, the after party of sorts goes until 11:00PM. Sometime in between that, Glensheen ordered a pile of Sammy's Pizza for everyone still in attendance, bonus!
If you haven't been able to attend this in the past, plan on it for next year. It's a classy event you get dressed up for, have some cocktails, enjoy some great food, see the mansion, and help out in keeping the museum and it's programs rolling for the next year.
