Apples Sold In Wisconsin Recalled For Possible Listeria

If you have any apples sitting on your counter, you'll want to read up on the FDA's latest recall. Michigan-based company North Bay Produce is recalling fresh apples from several states, including Wisconsin.

According to a press release put out by the FDA, the apples are being recalled due to the possibility of listeria contamination. Listeria causes headaches, fever, nausea, diarrhea and more, among other things.

Here's what we know about the recall overall:

• The varieties in the recall include McIntosh, Honeycrisp, Jonathan, Fuji, Jonamac and Red Delicious.
• The apples were sold under a few brand names, including: Great Lakes, North Bay Produce, Pure Michigan and unbranded.
• The apples that are unbranded were sold in a clear plastic tote, a white paper tote or from a display tray.
• The apples that are being recalled were shipped between October 16th of this year and the 21st. Apples purchased before are not included in this recall.

The apples being recalled in Wisconsin are of the Jonamac variety and North Bay Produce branding. The recalled item was sold in a three pound plastic bag.

The recall impacts eight different states, including Florida, Kentucky and Michigan, to name a few.

You are asked to throw out the apples if they meet any of the above criteria or ask for a refund at the point of purchase.
