Are Selfies Legal At Minnesota + Wisconsin Polling Places?

It's Election Day!  Today is the day everyone should get out and vote.  While it's important to have your voice heard, is it legal for your face to be seen in a selfie from your polling place? 

The short answer in Minnesota and Wisconsin is yes.  It is perfectly legal to take a selfie or picture inside your polling station, but there is a restriction in place in Minnesota.

If you're voting in Minnesota, there are two statutes which state that showing others your marked ballot is illegal.  Therefore, if you take a picture or video at your Minnesota polling station, be sure not to show your marked ballot.

In Wisconsin, there are no restrictions in place.  However, if you get a bit overenthusiastic and cause a distraction, you may be asked to put the camera away.

If your curious, there are a handful of states where any pictures inside or even near a polling station are forbidden.  They include Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia.  You can more details on all states here.
