The Telemark Lodge in Cable Wisconsin was once a thriving tourist destination, but after ownership changing hands multiple times it's doors have been closed for years. But their is some renewed hope for the trails thanks to the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation who now will be operating the grounds.

Birkebeiner Executive Director Ben Popp says  “We’re always looking at how can we utilize that property and make sure that we have the infrastructure we need. We signed a lease with them in June to operate the property over the next 24 months with an option to purchase it perhaps."

Although the Birkebeiner organization will not be purchasing the lodge they will do everything they can to make the land around it a great recreational area with awesome ski and bike trails. Birkie will not be pursuing any further development beyond restoring the trails.
