Just like the opening of certain sections of the recreational trail system signals the beginning of the winter season, their closure also foreshadows the change to warmer seasons.  Today's announcement about the trail system by the City of Superior signals the impending spring season.

According to the city's website, all seasonal recreational trails will be closed - effective Wednesday, March 20.  The warmer temperatures combined with the heavy rain we experienced last week have hastened the spring thaw.  At this point, the trails are becoming (or have already become) impassable.

The city does note that the year-round road routes and the Osaugie Trail from Moccasin Mile Road to Loon's Foot Landing will remain open.

The City of Superior maintains an excellent trail system - one that's perfect for the outdoor enthusiast.  Depending on the season, you'll find a plethora of skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, walking, biking, and ATV trails to utilize.  Many of the available trails cut through the city's Municipal Forest - which offers a wooded-experience right in the heart of the metro.
