One of the vehicles involved left the road way and entered the ditch. The person in that SV left the vehicle and started walking on the roadway.  Meanwhile, the other vehicle then circled back and hit the man in the roadway.  The driver of SUV that struck the individual then left the scene.  Police were able to locate it, though a short time later.

From the report:

  • The person who was struck by the SUV was a 32-year old Cloquet man.  Due to his injuries, he was transported to the hospital by ambulance.  His condition was listed as "conscious and able to speak with officers after the incident".
  • The suspect driver of the striking SUV was a 28-year old Cloquet woman.  The Cloquet Police Department interviewed her.  The police department has "requested the Carlton County Attorney's Office....review the case for possible charges of Criminal Vehicular Operation-Great Bodily Harm, and Duty To Drive With Due Care".

Law enforcement and authorities continue their investigation of the case.
