Daylight saving time was established in the United States during World War 1 to save energy, and is still in place to this day besides in Hawaii and Arizona. As kids we learned at a young age in the Fall you set your clock back 1 hour and the in the Spring forward 1 hour. And on top of that before cell phones you had to remember to change every clock in the house including the microwave and VCR.

Now 2 Senators in Florida Rick Scott and Sen. Marco Rubio are pushing to have daylight saving set year round due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

According to KARE11: Rubio stated: "Our government has asked a lot of the American people over the past seven months, and keeping the nation on Daylight Saving Time is just one small step we can take to help ease the burden. More daylight in the after school hours is critical to helping families and children endure this challenging school year. Studies have shown many benefits of a year-round Daylight Saving Time, and while I believe we should make it permanent all year around, I urge my colleagues to — at the very least — work with me to avoid changing the clocks this fall."

I agree with this 100% especially living in the upper Midwest Fall and Winter days seem to be so dark and drag on week after week because of turning our clocks back 1 hour. In this story Senator Rick Scott was saying for Floridians not changing the time will give them more time to be out in the sun. I understand the need to save energy, and I am always about that, but I think this time change is outdated and should be reconsidered, especially with COVID-19 and people having to stay in their homes more, it is a mental health issue.
