A new 15-story mixed-use development is planned for Downtown Duluth and the public will have the opportunity to make comments about it.

The new building will be located at E Superior Street and N 4th Avenue E right next to the new Essentia Health’s Vision Northland project. The building will include just over 20,000 square feet of commercial and retail space and residential units, with 200 apartments and a few townhomes.

To make room for the new project three building will need to be demolished, one of which was previously the Voyageur Lakewalk Inn, the other two buildings are currently empty. The new building will have parking for the three townhomes and a loading zone, all other parking will be in an adjacent parking ramp.

The City of Duluth is welcoming the public to comment about the Environmental Assessment Worksheet during a 30-day commenting period starting on Tuesday, February 23rd until Thursday, March 25th at 4:30 PM.

The Environmental Assessment Worksheet gives an idea of the environmental impacts of the project, you can read the entire worksheet here.

The Planning Commission will have a public hearing to hear comments on the Environmental Assessment Worksheet on Tuesday, March 9th at 5 PM, you can join the virtual meeting here.

You can also submit written comments about the project by emailing them to planning@duluthmn.gov using the subject line "319 - 333 East Superior Street", be sure to include your name and address in your emailed comments.
