After leading the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs to the National Championship game, Dominic Toninato has signed a contract with the Colorado Avalanche.

Hours after becoming a free agent, the former Duluth East standout hockey player signed his first NHL contract with the Avalanche, who are in a major rebuild process. Signing with Colorado will give Toninato a good opportunity to play in the NHL quickly as rebuilding teams are more likely to give younger guys opportunities.

Toninato took to twitter to express how he felt after signing an NHL contract.
