The Lake Superior Zoo in Duluth has announced the dates and details for their 2021 'Boo at the Zoo' event, which is one of the most popular Halloween events in the Northland.

In years past, this event has been held over a couple Saturdays in October, with everyone in the area invited to attend all day on either or both dates. However, this year will be a little different.

With the number of COVID-19 cases rising in the area, organizers have decided to hold the event over three Saturdays in October and attendees need to not only purchase tickets for a specific date, but also a time slot during which they plant to attend on that day.

The dates for the 2021 'Boo at the Zoo' are the Saturdays of October 16, October 23 and October 30. The hours each Saturday are from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but when you purchase your ticket you must sign up for one of the following 2-hour time slots:

  • 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  • 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
  • 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The reason for this is so they can have better control over the amount of people there at any given time. I've handed out candy at 'Boo at the Zoo' and I know from experience that while it is fun to see so many fun costumes, it can be very crowded.  This should help alleviate it that.

Tickets for each week are $12.00 per person and you can click on the button below to get your tickets now. Keep in mind that masks are required indoors for ages 2 and up as per City of Duluth facilities mandate.

The Lake Superior promises the 2021 event will once again feature "endless trick-or-treating stations, special Halloween-themed animal treats, food trucks, games & activities, and so much more!"
