Update 12/28/22:

The tubing hill at Spirit Mountain officially opened yesterday and will remain open on weekdays during the holiday school break, but will switch back to weekends only after that. Glow tubing is a little more expensive at $29 versus the daylight $25 price, and tickets can be purchased ahead of time on the Spirit Mountain website.

Jon Regenold, the director of resort services, said to FOX 21: “It’s a great activity for all ages. I mean yeah we have families with their kids, we have college-age that come out, we’ve got all the way up to everybody, you know, groups of adults that come out and tube. I enjoyed hearing families come down, the speed, and the different speeds of the different tubes, but all having a blast.”

MONT DU LAC: The tubing hills are open as well with special hours this week the tubing Hills are open 10 am-7p Thursday and 10 am-8p Friday and Saturday.

Original 11/18/22:

For many people, snow tubing is a great way to get outdoors in the winter and enjoy the cool temperatures and the snow. And if you have kids and you don't ski or snowboard this is a great way to hit the slopes with minimal skills needed except to hang on. Many ski resorts have realized that this is a great way to utilize the hills and runs in a whole new way and we are lucky to have two places right in our area that not only offer tubing during the day but also special night tubing that usually includes music and a special light show.

First up is Duluth's own Spirit Mountain located at the Spirit Mountain Adventure Park: 9540 West Skyline Parkway, in Duluth. I have seen many changes and additions since I moved here many years ago and they have become known as a great place to go year-round, but wintertime is when this place really shines. Tubing is the perfect family activity for anyone ages 3 and above. Everyone will love sliding down the hill laughing and a maybe few screams in fun, plus there is no walking back to the top, you take the snow lift to get you back to the top of the hill.

Glow Tubing is from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm, you can pre-purchase your tickets ahead of time in order to save your spot or purchase them as a walk-up ticket. The cost is $25 per person for the 2-hour session. They do have a waiver that must be filled out for each tube rider. Only Spirit Mountian Tubes are allowed, so please don't drag an old tractor tire to the hill to try and use it.

The second place for Glow Tubing is Mont Du Lac Resort Outta Bounds Tubing Park located at  3125 S Mont du Lac Drive in Superior, Wisconsin. This park has some amazing and unique runs that go through the woods making for a high-speed thrill ride. The tubing area contains 500-Foot tubing lanes, Two Custom Snowtubing Lanes through the woods, Four-Speed Slide Lanes, Two Children’s Lanes, a Music and Light show, and Custom Tubes. Plus you will love the flying carpet conveyer belt to get you back to the top of the hill. Waivers also need to be filled out for each tube rider.
