If you've thought about running for public office, now might be the time as several seats are opening up for the November election and the time to file your candidacy is coming up.

Starting June 1st anyone interested in running for any of the four City Council seats or the four open seats on the Independent School District #709 School Board must file their affidavits of candidacy by the close of business on June 15th.

The four available spots on the Duluth City Council include two Councilors At-Large seats, the Councilor-Second District seat, and the Councilor-Fourth District seat. All candidates for City Council seats must file with the City Clerks office at City Hall between the hours of 8 AM and 4:30 PM weekdays. A filing fee of $20.00 or a petition in lieu of the fee must be paid or presented at the time of filling.

The open School Board seats include two At-Large members and the 1st and 4th District seats. School Board candidates must file with the Clerk of the School Board, Room 215 at the Central Administration Building weekdays from 8 AM - 4 PM. When filling you need to pay a $2 filling fee or present a petition in lieu of the filing fee.
