FiveThirtyEight Predicts Big Season Ahead for Minnesota Vikings
FiveThirtyEight specializes in analyzing statistical information in the political world and the sports world, and they've updated their season predictions for the current NFL season and things are looking good for the Vikings.
After the end of week one, the nerds at FiveThirtyEight crunched the numbers and currently predict that the Vikings will end the season 11-6, only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills are predicted to win more games, and both are predicted to finish the season 12-5.
FiveThirtyEight says the Vikings' chances to make the playoffs are put at 73% and they have a 51% chance to win the NFC North. Looking at the rest of the NFC North, the Packers have a 27% to win the division, the Bears a 15% chance, and the Lions only have a 7% chance.
Here's where things start to get a little exciting for Vikings fans, and where we have to temper our excitement, the Vikes have, according to FiveThirtyEight the Vikes have a 14% chance of getting a first-round bye in the NFL Playoffs and a 6% chance of winning the Super Bowl, that ranks as their 4th team with the best odds of winning the big game.
Rounding off the top three Super Bowl contenders is the Chiefs with an 11% chance, the Buccaneers with a 13% chance, and FiveThirtyEight's current Super Bowl favorite is the Buffalo Bills with a whopping 16% chance to win it all this season.
Keep in mind that the season just started and there is a long way to go before you can safely book your tickets to Glendale, Arizona to see the Vikings play the Bills in Super Bowl 57 at State Farm Stadium on Sunday, February 12th, but either way it should be a fun ride this season. SKOL VIKINGS!
