Do you remember Jason Sydejko? He was a meteorologist for a stint at Fox 21 here in Duluth. He's moved on in his career and currently works for KCCI-TV in Des Moines. While he normally reports the weather, this time he's in the news for winning a nice lump of cash in scratch off tickets in Iowa.

According to the official release, Jason won 16,807.70 by playing the Cherry Twist Progressive Game. That game is part of the Iowa Lottery's Instaplay games. He says he's a numbers and stats guy, so that's why he ended up picking up that game. He bought the winning scratch off ticket at a Kum N Go convenience store near his work.

He scratched off his tickets in the car, and realized he was a winner. He was amazed as you would expect, ad decided not to tell any of his coworkers for friends until he claimed the prize. He had the winning ticket with him all weekend, including when he delivered weekend forecasts on TV, according to UPI.com.

Jason says his plan with the money is to pay off his car, put some of the money towards buying a house, and maybe buy a bike training machine. The Iowa Lottery says he plans to still participate in his Powerball Pool at work.

Jason Sydejko worked at FOX 21 News in Duluth for 3 1/2 years until his departure in early 2015. He's been a meteorologist with KCII TV in Des Moines since January of 2015.
