The Wisconsin Department of Natural resources has announced that a "Free Fun Weekend" will be taking place across the state on Saturday June 5 from 6am-11pm. The event is held so that people can get outdoors without the normal fees. They hope to inspire people to use Wisconsin's beautiful outdoors year round.

Normally when you visit a Wisconsin State Park you need an admission sticker. On Saturday June 5, from 6am-11pm no sticker is required. That gives you access to any one of the 49 State Parks across the state. Locally in the Northland the nearest two are Pattison State Park and Amnicon Falls. You could easily do both of these state parks in just one day. You can use the Wisconsin DNR's park finder to help find one near you.

Residents and non residents also can fish without a license for this day only. Of course normal fishing regulations are required, but no licenses or trout/salmon stamps are needed. This is for Saturday and Sunday, June 5-6.

The Wisconsin DNR is also opening up their state trails, allowing anyone to use them without a trail pass on June 4., That's all linear/rail trails and ATV trails.

You can find all of the specifics on the Free Fun Weekend at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources website. There's even links to find boat launches, shore fishing access points, and more.
