It is do-or-die time for the Twins. Coming in today's game, the Twins currently sit six games behind the Tigers/Indians; and six games below .500. Since June first only the Boston Red Sox have had a better record then the Minnesota Twins.

The Twins have never really been "big" trade deadline movers. The Twins only make moves to help them win the Division like trading for Orlando Cabrera in 2009, and Matt Capps last year, but if the Twins want to improve, and play like the Yankees and Red Sox they will have to make a splash.

With a depleted farm system, and with a lot of soon-to-be free agents like

Michael Cuddyer, Jason Kubel, Delmon Young, and Matt Capps; look for the Twins to move one of these guys in order to make a splash, or if the Twins start to fail down the stretch it would not surprise me if we see all four of these guys gone. But lets play what if shall we? So if the Twins start to really make up some ground could we picture Prince Fielder or Jose Reyes in a Twins uniform? Probably not because those are guys the Twins kind-of shy away from, but wouldn't it be nice to see Heath Bell run onto the field at Target Field? Now Bell could become a reality, because last week we witnessed our now closer Capps almost blow four games.

The Twins are slowly getting healthy, and with still some needs on the roster, lets hope the Twins will take a page out of the Yankees book, and make a splash. It would move the Twins out of the small-market category and place them into the big-market category. Right now the Twins need another big bat in the lineup, and bullpen upgrade. With no vial first basemen until September, lets see if the Twins make a push for Fielder, or if they upgrade their pen with Bell.

It would be sad to see Cuddyer in another teams uniform, but if that means bolstering our lineup then I will be okay with it. My bet is that the Twins will do some kind of minor upgrade and trade away a prospect just to win the Division, and once again we will finish with us watching the Yankees beat the Twins in the playoffs, but maybe the Twins will surprise us in a few weeks, and make a splash, but only time will tell.
