The Upper Peninsula of Michigan, or the UP, isn't that far from the Twin Ports.  Michigan offers beautiful scenery, a lot of historic mine sites, and plenty of touristy things to see and visit.  All of the above make the UP a great place to vacation and if you haven't seen it on a motorcycle, that's a must.

One of my personal favorite UP stops is in Eagle Harbor.  It's about 4.5 hours from West Duluth and Highway 26 to get there is incredibly scenic.  It's also home to a place called The Jampot and simply put, it's a bakery, one of the coolest I've ever been to.

The Jampot is unique as it's run by monks.  The Monks of the Society of St. John not only sell delicious baked goods like fruit cakes and their incredibly famous peanut butter and jelly bars, but also preserves and jellies, some various candies, and more.

If you even venture close to their location, I highly suggest you make a stop to get a taste of what they have to offer.  Keep in mind, the main shopping area in The Jampot is small, and in busy tourist season, there will probably be a line out the door.  They do have seasonal hours, so keep that in mind and you can always find that on their website.

Compared to years ago, the parking area is incredibly expanded, and the property now has a couple of picnic tables, and even a dog run area.  It's also close to Jacob's Falls, another worthy stop in the area for the views.  The Jampot Bakery is located at 6500 State Hwy M26 in Eagle Harbor, MI and is a stop you won't regret.
