The Hermantown Hawks, undefeated on the season, looked to extend their season and winning record today against Thief River Falls in the Minnesota Boys Class A Hockey Tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The Hawks, seeded number one in the Class A bracket met #4 Thief River Falls (23-4-2) to see who would go on to play St. Thomas Academy in the Class A Championship.

Jared Thomas got the Hawks started midway through the first period, and that goal would prove to be the only goal of the first and second periods of the contest. In the third period, both offenses would erupt, with Thief River Falls netting two goals less than a minute apart to take the lead midway through the third. Jared Kolquist for the Hawks scored the second Hermantown goal, tying things up within a minute of the Thief River Falls pair of goals. Tied again, Hawks standout Jared Thomas scored his second goal of the game at the 11:45 mark of the final period, and that would be enough to put the game away.

Hermantown, who advances to 30-0 on the season, will go on to face #2 St. Thomas Academy at noon Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center. ESPN 560 WEBC will have all the highlights right here on our website.
