The country's highest military award will be awarded posthumously to Major Henry A. Courtney, Jr. on Sunday, the 12th of November in Duluth.

The public is invited to this event being put on by The St. Louis County Historical Society and it's Veterans Memorial Hall Program.  Major Henry A. Courtney Jr. of the United States Marine Corp has his original medal housed with Freedoms Foundation in Pennsylvania and while The St. Louis County Historical Society was unsuccessful in borrowing the original Medal of Honor they were able to acquire a replica which will be displayed in the Veterans Memorial Hall Gallery.

Major Courtney helped contribute to the success of the Okinawa Campaign and gave his life for his country.   The event will be held at St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center in the Great Hall which is at The Depot, and The Duluth Honor Guard will present the colors before the installation. Remarks will be made by Court Storey, Major Courtney’s nephew. The ceremony will start at 1:30PM.  More information can be found here.
