Willie Nelson is a national treasure, and I sure would hate to see him uncomfortable when he visits Duluth this spring. While most of the region will be enjoying mild spring temperatures, it may be a different story by the lake.

Willie Nelson & Family will perform in concert at Bayfront Festival Park. It's scheduled for May 23, 2024. By that time, Willie will have turned 91 years old. I have no doubt the concert will be well attended. Of course, everyone is going to go out to see Willie!

Locals will know to bring a parka, but will someone please pass the word on to the Red-Headed Stranger? May 23rd usually means temperatures in the 60s and 70s for the upper Midwest. But, in Duluth? How warm will it be? A better question might be how cold is it going to be?

Duluth Average Temperatures For May 23

According to Accuweather, the average high temperature in Duluth is 60 degrees. That doesn't sound too uncomfortable, but that's just the hottest part of the day.

The average low for May 23rd is 43 degrees. Considering that the gates open at 5, and the show starts at 7 pm, we can expect the average temperatures around that time to be in the 50s or perhaps colder. Sure, we could get lucky with a west wind, but being so close to the lake, it will likely be brisk.

It will still be a wonderful time, just bring a coat.

I can't wait to see Willie at Bayfront. I'm a big fan of him. I even have a portrait in my office, and I'm about to start growing my Willie Nelson Chia Pet.
