The photo says it all! My favorite race ever is officially coming back this Halloween season. The North End Nightmare will return to Superior, Wisconsin this October which means you should start planning your epic running costume now.

The race is fun because it means runners can mix their love of Halloween and all things spooky with a race! Plus, in what other race can you dress up in a ridiculous and amazing costume with other likeminded runners? It's also a great way to end a fun year of Grandma's Marathon races.

This year, the race will take place on Saturday, October 28th. The race kicks off near Earth Rider Brewery in Superior. From there, you will run the 3.1 miles weaving through the surrounding area and some fun themed areas before wrapping up the race the same place you started!

The starting and finish line area is also full of fun, with a treat-or-treat area for kids, a haunted garage and the chance to have a brew post-run. There is also a costume contest with prizes for the best-dressed.

On the actual course itself, you will find all your classic Halloween creatures, with different scary zones to trot through on your way to the finish. These spooky zones include the following: Spider's Nest, Lost Souls Lane, Creepy Clown Town and Mad Science Lab. If you have a young one that wants to take part in the race, you can get more details and insight by calling organizers at 218-727-0947.

There is also another option for kids that want to get in on the fun. As always, there will be a free race option for kids fourteen and under. The Spider Dash Kids' Race will start at 12:30 p.m. after the main 5K event, which will start and finish at the same line as the regular race.

Registration for the race opens on Friday, September 1st. Prices will increase as we inch closer to the race, with a $30 entry fee through the 15th. Prices will hike to $35 from September 16th through October 15th, with a $40 entry fee starting October 16th through race day. Kids under eighteen can take part for $10.

There are a few rules to make note of. There are no pets, bikes, inline skates or the like allowed on the course. You must also be registered to run if you are on the course. Please also note the race will start at 11 a.m. this year instead of the usual evening run time. Spooky season is upon us!
