Stolen Canal Park Stuffed Bear Mascot Found In A Dumpster

The new mascot of a business in the Canal Park area of Duluth went missing over the weekend, stirring up concern and outrage among fans of the business. The good news is that there was a happy ending to the story by the end of the weekend.

If you've ever walked by Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Canal Park, you've likely seen a giant stuffed animal sitting on a bench outside.

The person-sized stuffed bear is named Truffles, but he might not be the one you remember from years past if you haven't been by the store in a while.

The original Truffles was retired at the end of 2025, and a new Truffles joined the store in January of this year. Here's a look at the new Truffles when he joined the team at the shop this winter.

The team at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory shared shortly after noon on Saturday (July 25) that this new Truffles had gone missing.

According to the chocolate shop, Truffles had gone missing from the bench on Friday night. The staff asked the public for any tips, ultimately offering a no-questions-asked opportunity for someone to bring their beloved bear back.

The comments on the post about Truffles exploded, with several people upset someone would steal the bear.

Some people said they thought they had seen the bear being carried around Downtown Duluth. A few reports included people saying they had seen Truffles by Pizza Luce and near the 4th Avenue Whole Foods, while many other people said they'd be keeping a lookout for the bear.

The good news is that by the end of the weekend, the situation was resolved and Truffles was brought back home! The sad thing is where he was found.

The two people who found the bear, Veronica and Grace (seen below) got Truffles out of the dumpster and returned him to his home in Canal Park.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory thanked everyone who helped, either by getting the word out about Truffles being missing or by sharing tips and looking for him.

After being tossed in a dumpster, a trip to the dry cleaners was in order before returning to his post in Canal Park at the store.
